Finn was named a hero by the leaders of Obsidian Bay after his assistance during a particularly harsh winter season. He was granted land, which he chose to take in the nearby cozier settlement of Waterton.
If you come to visit when Finn is home, you'll find both his animal companion Odolf and a pot filled with pudding by the fire.
