The church of Trithereon is led by Kalib Ironfist, a former warrior who converted to the faith after a near-death experience in the Obsidian Maze.

Overview

The Church of Trithereon in Obsidian Bay is led by Kalib Ironfist, a former warrior who converted to the faith after a near-death experience in the Obsidian Maze. He is a powerful and generally respected cleric in the city, and his faith is the third most popular.

He has built both a small church -- the Temple of Pursuit -- in the city's Wharf District but has a much larger, personal citadel two days ride from the city. This citadel, known as the Cathedral of Liberty, has attracted a small group of slaves freed by Kalib and the Blackrazors, as well as several followers from faraway lands. Kalib wields the bastard sword Justiceseeker, a magical weapon created by the will of Trithereon during the fall of Obsidian Bay. It holds the soul of Kalib's murdered teacher, also known as Justiceseeker .

Surprisingly, Kalib Ironfist has a good working relationship with the leader of the [[[Church of St. Cuthbert, Obsidian Bay|Church of St. Cuthbert]], Ironsoul. Kalib respects the cleric's no-nonsense, common sense approach to his faith, and the Trithereonites adventuring days with Calvin Cloudmoore, the church's second in command, helped cement the relationship. The new antagonism between the two groups is stressing both men.

The Temple of Vengeance

Kalib's approach to leading the church has also attracted the attention of another priest of Trithereon known as Corin. Corin leads a smaller, but more vocal and militant, splinter group of the church. Based out of a Strange Quarter site they call the Temple of Vengeance, this group preaches aggressive strikes against humanoids, harsh punishment of wrong doers, and a general hatred of all humanoids as subhuman scum.

Corin is highly critical of Kalib's leadership style, which he sees as being to structured and orderly. He also dislikes the "Cathedral of Liberty", which he calls Kalib's "monument to his ego."

Corin's church has been responsible for roving bands of vigilantes moving through the city looking for wrongs to avenge. This has put him at odds with the church of St. Cuthbert, which has patrols doing much the same thing. The Cuthbertians want to deliver the criminals into the hands of justice -- the Trithereonites want to deliver justice on the streets.

Tensions between Kalib and Corin's factions eased somewhat in early CY 589 when Kalib gave Corin a powerful holy mace of Trithereon and alerted him to the presence of an abandoned temple of Trithereon to the north of the Drachensgrabs.

Corin, who already wields the holy sword Retribution, accepted the mace and gave it to his second in command. He then assigned this individual -- known as Palquin -- to man the Temple of Vengence with several other followers. Corin is now attempting to raise funds to continue supporting this temple, while at the same time trying to attract followers to his view of Trithereon.

Tyrant-Killers

The Tyrant-Slayers Guild was formed by a band of adventurers who follow the Trithereonite Corin. Like their spiritual leader, the guild opposes any who would impose tyranny on the masses. Unlike other guilds in the city though, they do not just oppose the Pomarj's humanoid oppressers. It is led by Taldari Kingbane.
