Andulf Truedeath grew up in Kingdom of Furyondy, an orphan taken in by the Church of Pelor. He was loaned to an elite military unit who begged the Church for a cleric tough enough to soldier with them and help keep them in fighting form. Then the Greyhawk Wars broke out.
Throughout the Wars, Andulf trained extensively as a fighting man, and began to view the traditional teachings of Pelor as too passive in the face of the brutality he witnessed.
It was during the siege of Chendyl that Andulf found his true path. The clerics of Pelor there were working with clerics of a new, but related faith, that of Mayaheine. As an ascended paladin of Pelor from another plane, Mayaheine was a strong defender of the weak. Depicted as the defender on the wall, she was an apt image for the besieged Chendyl. Andulf had found his true path.
During the siege, Andulf took part of several missions to strike against the horrific undead forces of Iuz, some of which had never before been seen on Oerth. The missions always carried a great cost in the lives and spirt of the brave soldiers he accompanied.
After the siege was lifted, Andulf left Furyondy for Greyhawk, to seek out others with whom to share his new faith. Andulf joined an adventuring party exploring some of the ancient burial grounds in the Cairn Hills.
During their explorations, several of Andulf's companions were slain by a pack of wights, who the party barely managed to defeat. Andulf suffered grievous wounds to both body and soul as the result of that battle. He and his surviving companions retreated from the Cairn Hills with the bodies of their fallen comrades. To his dismay and horror, several of his fallen friends arose as undead shortly therafter, before they could be Raised from the Dead. With a heavy heart, Andulf summoned all the faith left in him and blasted the undead mockeries of his friends into utter destruction.
In the subsequent years, Andulf healed the wounds to his spirit inflicted by the wights. Harboring a deep loathing of the undead, Andulf has undertaken many missions to destroy/thwart the undead. Recently his travels have led him to Obsidian Bay in order to search the infamous Obsidian Maze for the Well of All Heals. Although he has not found it yet, Andulf did find something very interesting.
In a musty sepulchur, which surprisingly did NOT contain any undead, Andulf found a very old tome, expertly preserved through magical means. In that tome, entitled "Methods and Practices of the Knighthood of the Final Rest", Andulf found details of an ancient military-religious order formed in order to fight against the undead. There were also several references to the horrible realm known as Necros. Andulf returned to the nearby Obsidian Bay to continue his research and recruit allies for his new cause.
In Obsidian Bay, Andulf began contacting others who could stand strong against the undead, attempting to find more information on Necros. Soon, he was approached by a new member of the Blackrazor Guild, requesting his help with a mission centering around that very topic. Andulf has teamed up with the infamous Guild in order to further his search for rumors of Necros in Maure Castle.
