The Saga

Readying 21, CY 515

When Griffins Landing was founded, the Griffins Guild landed at the ruins of Storm Tower on the southern Pomarj coast. They smashed the Red Fang orc tribe that had taken up residence in the ruins, driving the survivors inland.

The Red Fangs didn’t run far. There are a number of old fortresses, ruins, natural prominences, and other structures about 12-15 miles outside of the city, and they soon took up residence in them. The Griffins Guild and other adventurers have repeatedly cleared out many of them, but the humanoids inevitably return.

At the request of Willow Wind, senior member of the Griffins Guild and the highest ranking elf in the city, Tanevier and his new friends were tasked with once again clearing out one of these forts: Bloodstone Tower.

Readying 23, CY 515

Tanevier and his cohort left the city on Sunday, the 23st of Readying, CY 515. They spent the day traveling to the general location of the tower, which lay to the northwest of Obsidian Bay. On the way their they discovered a sheltered cavern to bulwark in, but it was occupied by a bugbear. They slew the creature and setup campaign.

Later that night a group of Purple Squid hobgoblins planning a raid against the orcs stopped by the cavern, also planning to stay there for the night. Fortunately the adventurers heard them coming, and prepared for the assault. They won the battle that followed, stacking up the bodies outside of the cave in hopes of drawing the attention of carrion feeders, particularly crows or ravens. They intended to use the birds to learn more about the orcs at Bloodstone Tower. They discovered that perhaps a dozen orcs occupied the tower, and that they were led by an oversized humanoid of some kind. This matched what they had learned from tracking the orcs, and led them to believe that an ogre or some other large giant-kin might be leading the orcs.
