Overview

Named for the College's colors, this exclusive society is made up almost entirely of graduates of the Laughing Song and counts nearly 120 individuals among its ranks. A handful of these are non-graduates given honorary degrees by the college specifically so that they could be inducted into the Society.

Many of the city's sages have intimated that the Society's secretive club house on the College's campus is home to ancient lore handed down through countless generations and finally set down in ink by the Society. Also rumored to be locked away are musical instruments capable of producing powerful magical effects, as well as other, more sinister relics recovered by the Society and locked away for safety.

Arcane Rivals

In some ways, the Society serves as a counter to Wizards Guild of Obsidian Bay. While the Wizards Guild hardly sees the Society as a threat, it -- and the college -- represent perhaps the second largest concentration of arcane power in the city, and is certainly the foremost center of bardic lore. Both bards and sorcerers can be found in their ranks, and their knowledge tends to be more diverse and obscure than that of the Wizards Guild.

While the Society does horde a good number of magical tomes, scrolls, and song books, and equal amount of its knowledge is oral in nature, passed down from society member to society member. Indeed, while a search of the college's library might yield some rare facts, the true treasure trove of information lies within the minds of the senior members of the Society.

Membership

Membership in the Society is limited to those who attended the college and consists of two tiers of individuals. The general membership is comprised of those who attended the college, and are still making a name for themselves in the larger world. At any given time, there are perhaps 150 of these individuals in the city.

The Inner Circle of the Society is more limited. It is comprised of senior alumni and esteemed honorary graduates, and numbers perhaps 30 individuals. They serve as trustees to the college, advising it on its curriculum, guiding its research and endeavors, and occasionally serving as mentors to its students and graduates.

Regular Meetings

Quarterly gatherings are held by the general alumni at the House of Song during each of the festival weeks.

The Inner Circle of the Society meets on the 15th of each month, at its secret clubhouse on the Campus of the College of Laughing Song.
