What Has Come Before
Having successfully determined what destroyed a patrol of Obsidian Bay guardsmen, the Blackrazors are invited to participate in War Games.
The Saga
29th through 31st of Coldeven, C.Y. 587
Within minutes of returning to Obsidian Bay the Blackrazors were sacked by officials in the city's Army and City Guard. Led by Captain of the Guard Alex Bander, the military leaders spent hours picking the adventurers' brains about their recent encounters with humanoid armies outside of the city. As the meeting finally wound down, the exhausted Blackrazors learned that they were expected to engage in Citizens Guard war games.
Two days later they were on the field outside of the village of Waterton with their antagonists, the Ralleyman's Guild about to engage in a re-enactment of the Battle of Waterton Meadows. The original battle, fought in C.Y. 584, pitted a vastly outclassed and outnumbered Obsidian Army force against a huge humanoid force. Their sole mission was to delay the goblin army long enough for reinforcements to arrive back in the city. The Obsidian Bay army killed hundreds of goblinoids before finally falling to the overwhelming numbers and succeeded in buying enough time for the city to field a second force.
With 40 members of each guild, plus 40 members-at-large of the Citizens Guard, the small army was vastly outnumbered by the illusionary re-creation of immense humanoid force, just like the original battle.
The army faired slightly better than the original force, and the Blackrazors scored a minor victory in outlasting the Ralleymen on the battlefield. They returned to the city, where they staged another coup by being able to stay awake through the de-briefing, something the Ralleymen were incapable of.
