What Has Come Before

The heroes learned that a rampaging warband massacring its way through the western Pomarj was actually searching for a lost relic, the Bleeding Eye. After questioning the survivors of several frontier villages who had gathered at Waterton, they discovered that a Knight of the Fist named Sir Wardare had passed through the towns, and appeared to be suffering from a head injury.

They traveled his feudal manor of Wardare Tower where they find the knight obsessing about launching a new strike into the orcish lands. The heroes discovered that he had been possessed by the spirit of a mad elf, who's eye was used to created the known as the Bleeding Eye of Thaggurth . They subdued him and his knights, and then destroyed the Eye and the ghost within.

The threat to the town of Wardare Tower remains. The orcish warband has arrived in the vicinity of the town and subdued a hill giant in preparation for their assault on the town.

Battle Plans

The Dark City heroes consult with the still-recoverign Sir Wardare and his surviving knights. The explains that based on his experience fighting the Bloody Eye Clan orcs, it's likely that they won't attack en masse, instead choosing to split their forces into multiple warbands.

Into the Mountains

Taking a number of Sir Wardare's knights with them, the heroes head out into the countryside hoping to track down and engage the rampaging orc war bands before they arrive at the Tower.

They first head north into the nearby foothills of the Drachensgrab, where they find tracks of one of the orcish warbands. They follow them to an old wooden bridge, where they are ambushed by the orcs, but are able to destroy them.

The Ghost Fen

Continuing onward, they find another group near the Ghost Fen, a small wetland to the west of Wardare Tower. After defeating this group, they head on through the fen, eventually returning to the Tower on the main road.

Giant at the Gates

There they find a giant attacking the Tower's main gates. After a pitched battle, they're able to kill the giant and turn their attention to the main force of orcs, led by their new chieftan Muggak. They were able to repel the attack and smash the warband, securing the safety of the Tower and its inhabitants.
