The name of the building that is now Knights Hall has varied over the years, but its purpose has always been the same: to serve as a barracks for the military forces of Obsidian Bay.
In the current age, the renovated and expanded Knights Hall is home to the three Knightly Orders of Obsidian Bay (the Knights of the Shield, the Knights of the Sword, and the Knights of the Fist).
As the knightly order charged with augmenting the city's defense, the Knights of the Shield maintain the largest presence in the barracks. There are approximately 10 Knights of the Shield in the barracks at any time, with an equal number out in the city.
The Knights of the Sword, which are charged with patrolling the realm and upholding the laws of the domain, are fewer in number, with only five or six in the barracks at any time, and the rest out patroling the roads and lands of the Domain.
The Knights of the Fist rarely frequent the barracks, as they are charged with fighting border actions on the frontier. There is always at least one token knight left here to serve as a liasion to the city and the other orders, as well as perhaps one or two others. Any more than that is rare.
