The Prancing Manticore is an inn located in the Strange Quarter that caters practitioners of the Art (as well as pretenders to that title).
It's divided into two sections -- the one-story ground-level portion holds about ten rooms which are typically rented traders and merchants who have business in the Strange Quarter, as well as occasional mages with business at the Wizards Guild (located only a few blocks away).
It's basement level is a dining hall known as "The Catacombs". It can hold about 40 people, and its walls have a harsh stone fascade that tries -- and fails -- to give the impression of a wizard's subterrean lair. A platform on the northern wall is used as as a staging point for various second rate illusions -- the one that's usually there is of the inn's namesake "prancing manticore."
