What Has Come Before
The Blackrazors fought their way into the opening rooms of Kerzit's Fane within the ruins of Maure Castle, but a brutal battle with a flock of demonic winged creatures known as varrangoins has forced them to retreat to the safety of Obsidian Bay yet again.
The Saga
Flocktime 19, CY 592
Back in the Bay
Party retreats to Obsidian Bay, where Thorin secures a chain shirt. Jonas takes the time to be initiated into the Blackrazor Guild, but falls to STOMP within two rounds. Speaks with the githyanki about the star pattern in the pathway leading to the Unopenable Doors, but learn nothing.
Flocktime 20, CY 592
The Gnashing of the Colchilns
They return to Maure Castle the next day.
Exploring the dungeon, find a corridor heading down which radiates great, schizophrenic evil that feels like something intense being shattered and reformed. They hear creatures feeding, gnashing teeth and tearing at flesh and cracking bones. Giles heads in to investigated, and sees three colchilns feasting in a room. One sees him and a melee ensues. He strikes one with a holy crossbow bolt, nearly killing the creature after Fonteyn hit it with force orbs. The creature, nearly dead, responded by lashing out with its adamentine claws, but fails to destroy it.
Shyrg, Arcane Knight
Continue to explore and stumble across the room of Shyrg, arcane knight and leader of the Cult of Kerzit. She's waiting for them, and instantly lightening bolts. She then quickly erects a wall of fire to hold them off.
Hogarth, Giles and Fonteyn are caught in the fire, as is Jonas further down the corridor. Jonas tumbles through the fire, suffering the flames and landing before the knight. Hogarth followed in, but missed. Jakob then dispels the wall of fire, providing Giles with the shot he needed ... but the sniper missed. Then Fonteyn tumbled in, hitting with his short sword.
Shryg, seeing she is about to be overwhelmed, she screams that she will feed their souls to Kerzit, and teleports away in a shower of blue light.
The Battle of the Fane
The Blackrazors, momentarily thrown off by Shyrg's assault and subsequent retreat, press on. They explore the rooms immediately surrounding the arcane knight's chamber until they stumble upon the lead elements of a great force of cultists she assembled to repel the invaders. force
The resulting fight saw the breaking of the back of Kerzit's cultists within the Fane as nearly a dozen died before the spells and swords of the attacking Blackrazors. Shyrg herself was slain, dying cursing the adventurers with her final breath.
