That night the party parlied with Slickblade, who mistakingly thought he had the upper hand. He demanded that the Blackrazor’s leave control of the Mudsitter’s district to him, and made veiled threats about hurting the guild members sitting in the city prison. When the party refused to back down, he turned to make a dramatic departure using his cloak of the bat. He made it 60 feet into the air before dying under a barrage of magic missiles fired by the party. The party took his equipment, and turned his body into the city guard. The guard was surprised – they thought Slickblade had been hung in 584 – but agreed to pay a 5,000 gp bounty on Slickblade’s head during that time.

What Has Come Before

The Blackrazors have just survived a fight with the barbaric Ralleyman Guild, and succeeded in getting most of their collegues released from prison. Now they find that a new threat is arising right on their doorstep: a group of ruffians known as the Brainsmasher Gang.

Of Taxes, Shares and Inductees

The day after the Blackrazor’s "epic" battle with the Rallymen’s Guild, its leaders mulled over their financial position. They decided to re-build the guild’s 26-horse stable, at a cost of 1000 gp. Killian, with two of the guild’s members, will run the stable.

The leaders also decided to go ahead with re-building the smithy, a 200 gp job that will take about a week.

A number of neophytes also joined the guild. Each of these individuals paid their 100 gp membership fee for the guild:

  • Kalib Ironfist, a human warrior from the North Province of Aerdy
  • Aaron Windstalker, a half-elven bard and swordsman originally from Celene.
  • A halfling thief named Frittle

Tanevir Calywyn, an elven mage of sorts, bought 2 shares in the guild.

After the new members joined up with the guild, the leaders began sending out neighborhood watch patrols into the Mudsitter’s District. Meanwhile, the party went to negotiate a deal with Lord Byron, of the House Byron, to guard caravans. They landed a 500 gp contract to guard a caravan on its five week journey to Blue, one of the few remaining free cities on the Pomarj peninsula. Ragnar, the group’s barbarian warrior, agreed to lead the expedition, and veteran adventurer Alton, an elven bowman, signed on to provide back up. In addition, the guild sent Gambori and Brantz, two second level members, and seven first level members on the expedition.

The 500 gp fee will be paid if and when the group returns from their expedition some time early in the month of Planting.

After making the deal with Byron – who promised that if this expedition went well he would hire more guild members on other missions – the party returned to the guild hall to find that one of their neighborhood watch patrols had been badly beaten by a group of lowlifes known as the Braincrusher Gang.

The guild immediately sent some of its best members out to deal with the scum, but to no avail – the cowards refused to confront them. The rest of the night passed uneventfully.

Slickblade's Fall

In the early morning, Ragnar and Alton led their expedition out of the city.

Later that day, on their way back from classes at the Guild of Wizardy, Falgar and Malphas noticed that a number of Braincrushers were attempting to ambush them. They ducked into a neighborhood tavern, where they met Slickblade face to face. He negotiated a meeting with the party down on one of the city’s piers.

That night the party parlayed with Slickblade, who mistakingly thought he had the upper hand.
