Little is known about the obsidian-skinned elf who calls himself Zilaznes.

Most people know nothing of his former people, the Drow, and those that do consider them a legend ... at least until they meet him in person.

In any case, Zilaznes has no interest in educating people about his past, about his race, or about how he came to be in Obsidian Bay, serving as the right-hand man of the guildmaster of the Professionals Guild, Jasper Silverbreak.

What he is interested in is the efficient, well-organized running of the Professionals Guild. He does not suffer fools, and his punishments are said to be excruciatingly painful. Indeed, since he arrived with Silverbreak to re-build the guild, the guild's punishments for practicing "the Art and Science" in the city have grown increasingly complex. Would-be thieves who might once have expected a good beating if caught might now be loaded in a barrel into the Black Gulch or left to hang by their thumbs from the mast of a ship.

Those who have seen him say he favors black robes with silver and red tracings. Most suspect he has a fair amount of arcane knowledge backed up by more than a little roguish skill. He is a competent, dangerous elf ... and wise people treat him accordingly.
