The Porters Gate is primarily used for transporting cargo to and from the ships tied up at the Docks.

The Porters Gate is primarily used for transporting cargo to and from the ships tied up at the Docks. Regular citizens are actively encouraged to use the main Sea Gate for entering the Docks.
A contingent of customs agents is located at this gate and charged inspecting goods leaving the city (incoming goods already having been checked at the Docks themselves). There's also a small contingent -- about a dozen men -- of City Guardsmen.
