This order protects the city proper by patrolling its streets and walking its walls. They are among the most visible of the Orders, since they spend most of their time inside of the city. They work closely with the City Guard and often deal with problems that are too overwhelming for the regular troops.

About half of the knights are members of the City Guard; the rest are respected members of the most powerful guilds in town, and the most respected leaders of the Citizens Guard. The members of this knighthood have strong lawful tendencies towards good or neutrality. Most of its members are warriors, but a few clerics and mages can be found in its ranks.

The Knights of the Shield may have up to 30 individuals on its rolls at any given time.
