Lord Brantis was the ruler of a small, prosperous hold at the foot of the Dracehnsgrabs who carried a dark secret.
For generations, his family had dabbled in dark arts, seeking mastery over death, and achieving extremely long lives in the process.
Brantis, the last of his long line, went further than any of his kin, seeking mastery over not only death, but undeath as well.
He sought out the Cult of Death Undying in its lair deep in the Drachensgrabs, swore fealty to its leader, the lich Lewandrew.
In the years that followed, he prepared himself for transformation into the ultimate form of undead perfection: lichdom.
When he finally succeeded, he became obsessed with a new goal: returning the Fading Land of Necros -- a demi-plane of undead long cut off from the Prime Material Plane -- to the real world.
He nearly succeeded, but was fortunately stopped by the Blackrazor Guild, who slew his physical form.
Unfortunately for the world, Brantis was not destroyed, as his phylactery was never found.
He has not been seen since his defeat, but it is believed that he still exists in some form, and is undoubtedly continuing his quest to restore Necros.
