Josef Warrick comes from a long line of distinguished military Oeridian commanders. His father is General Stefan Warrick, veteran of the Greyhawk Wars of CY 583, field general of the Obsidian Bay expeditionary force that stopped the humanoid Army of Burning Glory in CY 588 and the current military governor of Blue. His oldest brother – Duncan Warrick – was a priest in the Church of Heironeous who died during the city’s Battle of Waterton Meadows during the Greyhawk Wars.
His second-oldest brother Maldern Warrick is a sergeant in the City Guard, while his nearest brother Josen Warrick was a Knight of the Sword until his death fighting a goblin raid on the frontier in CY 589.
Josef’s own service during Obsidian Bay’s long War of Exile was distinguished, from his noted, heroic rear-guard action during the Fall of Obsidian Bay to his stunningly successful, non-traditional (to the Invincibles) tactics on the Great Southern Plain.
After the Liberation of Obsidian Bay in CY 589, he found that he had gained a significant following among the brave, brash young bloods of the Invincibles. That popularity – combined with his distinguished family name – was enough to thrust him into the Order of the Lance.
He represents the voice of the younger generation who seek to reinvigorate the guild. Nearly a third of the guild follows him, but at the same time, another third is vehemently opposed to the change that he represents. The remainder of the guild falls between the two factions, but enough have been swayed by Warrick’s abilities to allow his meteoric rise through the Invincibles’ ranks.
